The Financial Ombudsman Service is taking part in the Beyond Boundaries Live show at Kent Showground on 25 and 26 July 2008 – to help raise awareness of the ombudsman service's impartial role in settling financial disputes.
Beyond Boundaries Live is the lifestyle event for people with a disability. The show focuses on encouraging a "can do" attitude and not viewing disability as an inability but as a challenge to overcome boundaries. According to the Equality and Human Rights Commission, around 9.8 million people in the UK currently have a disability – with more than half the population over 75 having some form of disability.
The ombudsman service is delighted to be working with Beyond Boundaries for the second year running. To mark the event, the ombudsman service is providing wheelchair users and blue-badge holders with a high-visibility rucksack, containing:
